Gift ideas for a boyfriend so geeky and nerdy that he prefers his toys to you
This is Richard Luslonger again.
In a previous post, I launched the Valentine’s Day (2020) series without much of a fanfare since it is – technically – still Christmas.
To catch a glimpse of my Christmas gift idea posts, click here.
And now that most Christmas (2019) gift-shopping should (I assume) actually be done, allow me to launch into my first post about gift-shopping for a geeky boyfriend for Valentine’s Day 2020.
Creative Valentine’s Day Gifts for a Geeky Boyfriend (2020)
To ladies out there with a geeky boyfriend, my heart goes out to you.
Your boyfriend loves the computer more than he loves you, and he is more obsessed about the latest PC RAM than he is in ramming you.
But he is your boyfriend and you love him, and you want the best gift for him this coming Valentine’s Day (in 2020), like how Amy would forgo the romantic evening with Sheldon ~ for Sheldon.
So what do you give a geeky boyfriend?
Well, I have a few suggestions, which I hope will make your life easier, and hopefully happier.
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea #1: The AMD 16-Core Ryzen 3950X Processor
Geeks and computers fit each other hand in glove. It’s like they are made for each other (aww…). But not just any computer, it has to be a computer that your boyfriend has put together on his own.
So where creative Valentine’s day gifts for a geeky boyfriend 2020 is concerned, the first, and foremost gift that you can give to him is a computer processor – a CPU so to speak.
If you don’t know what a CPU is, that’s fine. Most people don’t.
Because geeks love raw horsepower – in the computing sense – the AMD 16-Core Ryzen 3950X Processor is the ultimate gift you can pass in a box to him this Valentine’s Day.
At the moment of writing, the AMD 16-Core Ryzen 3950X Processor is the most powerful in its class, outperforming even its arch-rival Intel in terms of price and computing prowess.
Don’t know what I’m talking about?
Don’t worry. Your boyfriend will, and would possibly shoot down some of the claims that I am putting here.
It’s ok. To each his own.
I can’t find the 16-Core on Amazon, but you can definitely buy the one of the below for him.
By the way, please disable your ad blocker to see what I am talking about.
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea #2: G. Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 RAM
Traditionally, a ram is an uncastrated male goat, but in PC lingo, it refers to the flat-looking sticks that we ram into slots in a PC motherboard to make the PC go faster.
Like CPUs, RAMs are a tad too technical to get anyone (except geeks, of course) excited, so I will cut through the chase and make a beeline for the recommendation.
To set your boyfriend’s heart ablaze, the G. Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 RAM series would be one of the best.
The RAM pieces come in different denominations, apparently.
You can get 2 x 8GB to make 16GB; you can get 4 x 8GB to make 32GB; or you can get 2 x 16GB to make 32GB.
They even come in customisable colours, as in, they can be programmed to glow in different hues.
Don’t know what denominations to purchase the RAM pieces in?
My suggestion: ask your boyfriend. You might set his heart ablaze, and he might soon be ramming you so hard that you wished you didn’t play to his whims and fantasies.
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea #3: Corsair Obsidian 1000D Super-Tower PC Case
If manners maketh man, cases maketh PC.
And where geeks are concerned, fussing over the case that maketh the PC is ~ well ~ part of the job.
Top of its class in terms of PC cases comes the Corsair Obsidian 1000D Super-Tower PC Case.
The Corsair Obsidian 1000D Super-Tower PC Case is a monster of its class. It can house two motherboards, two power supplies, and therefore two PCs, in one case.
Why your boyfriend would want to do that is anyone’s guess, but I guess you don’t mind, do you?
There are a lot more features I am not covering here, and I believe you’ll know why.
So let’s cut the crap.
Presenting: the Corsair Obsidian 1000D Super-Tower PC Case.
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea #4: DJI Mavic 2 Pro Drone Quadcopter
Alright, let’s move out of the PC category and move into something that’s more exciting: drones.
Since the 1980s, geeks have been obsessed with sticks, preferring to manoeuvre machines with sticks rather than play with their own sticks.
And since Atari is already history, the new geek darling would be drones.
All my recommendations are every geek’s dream, and when it comes to drones, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro would be the One.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro comes with a steep price tag, and why you would want to buy it for your boyfriend to distract him from you, I won’t know.
But here’s the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, straight from the horse’s mouth.
Valentine’s Day Gift Idea #5: Fairy Tail Anime Series
Finally, the last gift that you might not want to give your boyfriend: the Fairy Tail Anime series.
I am not sure what it is with geeks and anime characters.
Seems that nerds and geeks prefer virtual lovers to real lovers (sucks for you).
But if you so prefer to indulge in his madness, then the Fairy Tail anime series would be what you would acquire for him.
The Fairy Tail creator seems to have a rather accurate pulse of the geek world, customising anime babes to tailor to every whim, fantasy and perversion of the geek-niverse.
If you don’t mind a fake woman snatching away your real boyfriend, by all means, the recommendations below.
You know your boyfriend best, and where creative Valentine’s Day gifts for a geeky boyfriend (2020) are concerned, you will have the ultimate say.
If the gifts that are recommended here will take tens or hundreds of hours of boyfriend time away from you, may I then ask: don’t buy them.
Instead, choose something that will bore him to death so that he’ll rather spend time with you rather than his toys; unless, of course, you are a geek yourself. J
